I don't know about you but I have been in some truly horrible bathrooms in my life. Public bathrooms are a necessity in this world but they are in some serious need of improvement.
Lets start off with the topic of toilet paper. This is the most important need of a bathroom in my opinion, which is why I have to wonder why they still use the single sheet dispenser in some washrooms? This has got to be the cheapest way to save money and piss people off at the same time. I think this rule should apply to everybody. If you don't want to use it yourself, don't force other people to use it. There is also the rice paper like roll of toilet paper in some bathrooms, so when you try to pull on it it usually rips before you can get enough of it. I'd like to take a roll of that paper to the company that makes it and force the owner to use it.
Next topic: The smell:
Have you ever been in a public washroom and it smells great? I actually have and the fact that it smells good scares the crap out of me. What sort of chemical is being used that covers up the smell so completely that it actually smells like fresh baked cookies? I do not want to be in a public washroom taking in deep breaths because it smells good, because what I'm probably breathing in is feces particles. A public washroom should smell clean, not delicious, there is a huge difference. A clean smelling washroom is a lot more reassuring than a good smelling one, I know the clean smell cannot be confused with possibly coming out of another persons body.
Next topic: Ignorance:
How is it possible that when you enter a stall in a public washroom it can look like a scene from a horror movie? It truly is a miracle that they can be that disgusting, and the only thing I can figure out to what must have happened was that a family of at least five people all crammed themselves into the stall together and defecated at the same time. There is no other logical explanation. Do these people's homes look the same way? I highly doubt it, these types of people that do this sort of thing are completely ignorant.
Next topic: Bathroom fans:
I prefer using paper towel instead of the air dryer, for instance, after I am done drying my hands I usually grab the door with the paper towel to open it, just in case the guy before me didn't wash his hands, I don't have to touch where he did. Let me say this about the air drying fan in a public washroom. The fan takes air directly from the bathroom you are in and blows it on your hands. No one is bacteria free but I don't want more of it if I don't have to.
Last topic: Doors:
I cannot for the life of me figure out why you have to push the door to go into a public washroom and pull to get out. Newer buildings have no doors and use a, left then right method which I prefer, but most places still have the doors to enter the washroom. Let me use my foot to leave the washroom, I can push on the door with my foot to open it so I don't have to touch the handle. I have seen little kids pick their nose after going to the bathroom, they don't wash their hands and wipe it on the bathroom door handle before they leave. I do not want to touch that handle afterwards so it would be very nice if I could push the door instead of pull it. Somebody make this happen.
