Give a man a fish...

How long has Canada been trying to help other countries?  It has been about 68 years or since about the 1950's and in that time we have spent billions trying to help out other countries, and what has been the result this far?  Keep in mind that it's not just Canada that has been putting their 2 cents in, other countries have been as well.

I don't see a change, it is a never ending circle of spending. It needs to change.  How about instead of sending a whole bunch of money over to other countries to help, we instead select 5,000 individuals that show impressive intellect and work ethic from other countries, bring them to Canada and train them to train others in whatever field they are lacking in their country so that hey have the skills in the future to take of themselves and their people, and we do that every year.  Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he can eat for life.

How is it that a country can be getting free handouts for 68 years and still not be any better after all that time?  Obviously that plan is not working.  I'm thinking that there is the man behind the curtain with his fingers in the pie, in other words somebody somewhere is profiting from the good will of others.

If I see another Sally Struthers save the poor starving children in these second world countries campaign ad again I think I might lose my mind.  This ad is made to pull on your heart strings and pull out your checkbook, I have been watching these commercials since I have been a kid.   I'd like to know how much of that money actually goes to the child? There has to be processing fees, money conversions, taxes....ect.  If you were wondering if you could actually visit your sponsored child, you can visit them and you can see how your money is being used to help them, clothes, food school.

Now don't get me wrong here, I agree that sponsoring a child is a great idea, and helping out is based on what your version of the word "Help" means.  If giving money is your version of help then that is totally fine.  My version of help is using that money in a productive way to help, not just giving it out and hoping for the best.  Teach them how to work efficiently and effectually.
