Imaginary Reality

I was hooked on virtual reality the first time I ever tried it. I had to have one, and I bought a Samsung gear vr headset the day it was released. I have since upgraded to the PlayStation VR headset and I have to say that it is pretty amazing.

Imagine putting this unit on your head and instantly being in a fantasy world, its not just the sights that are amazing its the sounds as well. My vr has 3d stereoscopic sound , meaning that if you hear a noise on your left side and turn your head toward it you will hear it in both ears and if you walk toward it, it will get louder. Pretty amazing stuff.

I thought of all the incredible things this piece of technology could do and where it could possibly take us. While there are a few unique games, horror, role playing, I was hoping for a more imaginative type of experience.  Unfortunately this has not happened yet and it seems all anyone wants to do with this technology is shoot things and drive vehicles.

I had envisioned walking through a completely functioning engine as a tiny man, while it was running, or a lion on the savanna and when I looked down I would see my paws or if  I tried to talk I would hear growls that a lion might make.  Taking a tour through the human body as a microscopic entity that had to try to fix what wasn't working properly, seeing the heart pump, and moving along in rivers of plasma. You could be an alien on its spaceship and have four arms and have to figure out how your ship works from trial and error, and once you do you have to find planets for resources for your home planet.  Even just being tiny and walking around a house would be really cool.  But I guess it's more fun to shoot stuff.

When VR first came out I posted a thread on a site called reddit, and on there I proposed an idea for an online game.
You were a ghost in a haunted house and you had to kill the other characters who were real people, their job was to escape the house without being killed. As the ghost you got more powerful by turning off lights, locking doors and making someone scream, yell, jump, whatever.  You could scare people by flashing your image to them (you are invisible to other players as the ghost) the players can make you less powerful by turning on lights, lighting candles. using flashlights.
Players who were not the ghost had to solve puzzles and avoid the ghosts attempts at trying to goad them into a trap.

This is just a small part of what was on there but my point is, within a few hours it had tons of views and comments. it got so crazy that I actually could not keep up with all the comments and I just stopped replying. I wish I could have answered all their questions but I did not have any knowledge about what they were asking, I'm not a programmer.  There is an interest out there for new ideas and all we have to do is break out of what is safe and try something new. Otherwise this will be a just another fading fad.

This is my Imaginary Reality
