I was on Facebook the other day and saw a video of a young girl playing a song about how women are not equal to men and men get away with monstrous deeds. Scary time for men It was for an election.
I really have a problem with the song even though I totally agree with her point. The problem with the song is that it generalizes men as a whole. Saying that every man is a perverted pig and can get away with raping and molesting women is complete fiction. It's like saying that every woman has an alternative motive and are masters at manipulation, that too is complete fiction.
There are evil men and women on both sides of the spectrum, and the normal decent people out there should not be judged because of deeds of others. All Muslims are not evil, neither are any other culture or race. We don't hear about the great things other peoples and countries do because it doesn't sell newspapers.
For some reason the people on this planet love hearing about death and destruction, evil crimes and killings as opposed to a new type of hybrid flower that was developed or a synthetic gas for vehicles that has been invented. No, instead we want to hear about the death tolls that the latest hurricane wracked up and all the destruction it caused. We want to hear about the multi-car pileup on the highway.
I agree with the "Me Too" movement, and putting males in a position of power, who think they can get away with anything, on trial for their inappropriate actions. But what I don't agree with is every woman out there who thinks they can make a quick buck from it. That is not the reason to come forward. I often wonder if money wasn't involved how many of them would actually say anything?
A girl grabbed my butt once when I was younger and in an arcade, she did it on purpose and smiled at me as she walked away, at the time I kinda thought it was odd but I liked it as well. If I saw the same woman thirty years later on trial for similar actions, should I come forth and testify against her? How about if the prosecuting attorney found me and offered me 100,000 dollars to testify? Both answers should be a resounding NO. But I can't honestly say I would turn down the cash if it was presented to me.
There are really great and fantastic men and women out there and there are truly despicable ones. It's up to us to know that just because one person does something terrible it doesn't make us all terrible.
