Society has a lot of issues, not with only the underlying criminal activity, but also with the way we deal with that criminal element. I don't know about you but how many times have we heard that a criminal was going to be released because they served their time? Most of the criminals re-offend and end back in jail but it's at the expense of a law abiding citizen.
How can we release someone even though they know they are a high risk? Let's put that person back into society so that they can kill someone again or rape one of your children before they get caught and put back into jail. That is the stupidest way of thinking I have ever heard.
It seems to me that everything we do as a society is band-aiding the problem after it happens. There are no preventative measures in place, we need to fix the problem so that it doesn't happen at all.
It's not just people either, it's everything we build. When you get a flat tire, you either patch it or get a new tire, but neither of these remedies fixes the actual problem which is... puncturing your tire to begin with. We know that there is a good possibility that we could get a flat tire at any moment, yet we wait for it to happen before we address the problem. NASA has apparently reinvented the tire :NASA Tire.
This isn't a practical tire for the mass population yet but it's an idea towards one.
This is just one of millions of examples out there, Having to fix things all the time does create jobs, and makes money, it also costs money, time, and sometimes lives.
When we learned about climate change, and how it was destroying our planet, the band aids started being built, there were buildings that could scrub the air, and windmills put up to create energy, but now we are starting to actually fix the problem instead of band aiding it. The shift to non pollution vehicles and factories has started, we are slowly trying to remove ourselves from the coal industry. It may be too little too late but we are trying and maybe in the far off future the planet will return to normal if we can maintain clean energy.
I think everyone needs a proactive approach to our problems, start by addressing the problem and not waiting for something to fail before making sure it doesn't happen in the first place.
