I was working the other day outside and from across the street there were three children watching me and my worker. The parents had set their trampoline right up against the fence (with netting) so that they could see over.
The children were pretty young I would say four to six years old. They watched for a while, and eventually they started calling out to us. They were using every vulgar expletive they knew and to be honest I didn't know how to respond.
The parents were no where to be seen, I was on a job so being professional was upmost paramount to me. Calling us f***ing Vaginas, C***suckers, and other words children of this age should not even know. It was non stop and it went on for hours until we eventually finished and left the job site.
The people who live in that neighborhood had to have heard what was going on, but nobody came out, no one said anything. Hours it went on and nobody did anything.
If these were my children, the punishment would be severe, I would let my grandmother at them so she could wash their filthy mouths out with soap. They would be grounded for a month and they would have to write out a written apology as to why it is wrong to talk to people in that way as well as a verbal apology and "Sorry" isn't good enough.
So these parents of the children, what the hell were they doing while this was going on? Does this not reflect back onto them? What kind of parent leaves there young children alone outside in the hot weather, to play on a trampoline and swim in a pool unsupervised for hours on end?
These kids have absolutely no discipline and I can only think that the parents must be modern day neanderthals.
When you see good kids who are polite and have manners, I often think to myself, wow, your parents have done a good job with you.
In retrospect, I should have went over there, knocked on the door and spoke to the parents personally, if no one answered the door I would have called the police. Tiny children left alone unsupervised at home has to be the same if not worse than leaving them in a vehicle.
What do you think I should have done? (without going to jail)
