Whether you believe global warming is real or a hoax has no bearing on this story, my own opinion though is that global warming is very real and very much a threat. There are others out there like me that also believe global warming is a threat but they have the resources to do something about it.
Calcium carbonate, which is the active ingredient in antacids, is a tempting candidate for global cooling because simulations show that it could stay in
the air for years as it reflects sunlight. Scientists are going to send a balloon up carrying a mere hundred grams of the stuff and then analyze it with a laser to monitor how much sunlight will be diverted back into space.
I do not like the train of thought with this idea, didn't something similar happen in the matrix?
They were trying to block the sun so that the robots couldn't use solar power to live, it worked, the robots simply adapted and used humans as batteries as a replacement for solar power.
If the planet continues on this course and continues to constantly warm we will be plagued by massive droughts, more frequent extreme weather, and a catastrophic sea level rise that will wipe out entire cities, humans populations will likely suffer due to widespread disease and increased famine.
Yes, it sounds nasty, but how about instead of panicking, and doing something rash like trying to block out the sun, we try an approach that will benefit us all, like an auto trade program where you trade your vehicle in for an all electric model. We could solar panel the sides of buildings to make extra energy. Make our highways use kinetic energy to make power, or all sidewalks and walkways, the inside of every house, office, arena or mall could harness the power of kinetic energy.
We need to rid our dependency on the things that put carbon into the atmosphere, and it needs to happen yesterday but were going to have to settle for right now.
