My blog yesterday was about having a chip that would locate you if were a criminal or a lost person. While I try to keep my blogs short I did mean to expand on the idea. Thanks to my bud Ben for giving me this example.
RF-ID chips are the ones that hold not just a GPS tracker but personal information as well. They could hold all sorts of medical data.
Whenever you enter a walk in clinic you have to stand in line and wait to tell the receptionist who you are and what's wrong, then you wait, sometimes for hours. The same thing happens if you go to the emergency at the hospital. I have sat and waited for seven hours to get 3 stitches.
Would it not be nice, if you could walk into any medical center in the world and they would already know what's wrong with you before you told anybody? The worst case scenario would get help first and it would run down the line, prescriptions would automatically be handed out via computer for infections and viral outbreaks.
This technology exists already by using cellular technology but I can see it evolving much further.
It could be used for anybody anywhere, at home, work, vacation, etc. The device would know when your body is in trouble, if you about to have a heart attack, stroke, seizure, faint, drown, or any life threatening occurrence. Including getting shot, stabbed or beaten.
The system would send a signal to the closest health authority in the area and they would respond accordingly.

Gps Tracking Device
As I listen to the radio or the TV, I continually keep hearing about missing people, an old man with dementia leaving his house, people with Alzheimer disease disappearing from retirement homes, children going missing or being abducted, and last but not least all manner of pets disappearing from your premises.
I say put a GPS tracking device in everyone and everything.
As soon as you are born we should all have a tracking chip embedded in us, and have not just our location but other information on it as well, your age for example, your DNA number, to prove you are who you say you are, a limiter that prevents certain internet content usage at different ages, and whatever else we might need to live on this ever evolving planet.
I can already hear you people screaming about your privacy rights and invasion of privacy laws, but the fact of the matter is almost everyone has a GPS tracker on them at all times right now anyway, it's just not embedded under your skin. Yes, it's your cell phone and it has almost all your information on it as well.
You could also complain that the bad guys could hack your chip or use that information for nefarious deeds. I say of course they can, and it can happen right now too, to anything you own right down to your car.
This isn't the movies, and there is an almost infinite amount of information out there in the form of our data, so unless you are in the spotlight of the law or an underground criminal of some sort you really have nothing to worry about.
Right now at any given time your whole life could be open like a book and revealed to the world if you were to draw the attention of the wrong people.
Why don't we at least get some benefit to us as human beings instead of always being abused and misused. Being able to find your missing child, pet, or loved one in an instant would be a huge relief to anyone. Unsolved murder rates would go down, kidnapping and abductions would also become a thing of the past.

Made With Love
We all have heard the phrase "Made with love". You hear it a lot when something has been cooked, or baked. I have talked to a few people and even though they have heard the phrase they really have no idea what it means.
Making something with "love" simply means that when you have made something you have taken all the steps to ensure it is the best you can do. You have taken time and effort and used your abilities in the most constructive way possible.
Most people who just have to cook for themselves, take the least amount of effort to prepare something, unwrap it, throw it onto the microwave and done, instant meal.
Have you ever wondered why your mothers or grandmothers food was so delicious? When they prepared a meal, any meal it doesn't matter what it is, they were constantly watching and tasting everything, adding ingredients to make it taste better, they never put something on the stove and then sat down to watch TV, at least my parents didn't.
They carefully moderated the heat of certain dishes, to make sure the food didn't overcook or under cook, or burn. They used spices to enhance flavor, constantly adding and tasting to make sure the meal was perfect.
They took pride in the fact that this was a meal prepared for their family, and even if a thank you wasn't uttered afterwards they knew the meal was perfect by the grunts, slurps, and second helpings of the family.
I learned this technique from my parents. I use it whenever I cook something, I want it to taste better than any restaurant even if I am alone. If you ever try something I have made you can be assured that it was made with love.

Things I didn't Know
I went to the doctor for an MRI appointment and when I got there and it had finished I jokingly asked the guy operating the machine how I could get a copy of the results, to my surprise he told me to just ask the receptionist at the front counter and she would give me one. I took him up on his advice and sure enough the receptionist gave me a USB stick with the MRI pictures on it.
Apparently you can request copies of any scan or x-ray for your own personal files.
I didn't know that when a male bee climaxes his testicles explode and he dies.
Hydrogen gas is a light odorless gas which given enough time turns into people.
Half of all humans that have ever lived have died from malaria.
A tree is the opposite of your lungs, physically and functionally.
Goats have rectangular pupils.
Turtles can breathe out of their butts.
The original Nintendo entertainment system had more than twice the computing power of the original lunar lander.
If you keep going north you will eventually go south, if you head east you will never go west.
A banana is actually a berry, while a strawberry isn't.

I Find It Interesting
I find it interesting that with the creation of computers and technology, science and innovation, that we hear less and less about the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, UFO's, and other latter day myths and legends.
We all have cell phones, every cell phone and tablet out there has a built in camera, but there are no new pictures or claims that these things exist. You would think that there should be thousands of new pictures if they did. These stories have been receding due to that type of technology.
We also have genetic and DNA testing that can be achieved fairly quickly and cheaply now, and we can test any and all samples of hair, skin, metal, bone and other items that were related to the "Proof" of mystical creatures and aliens. All scientific research on these articles of proof have been found inconclusive. The hair from Bigfoot has been analyzed and been found to be a mixture of horse and pig hair, depending on where it came from.
We aren't, however, free of claims of odd belief systems, while the old days of sights of mystical creatures seem to be dwindling, new reports of other outlandish claims are starting to come in. The Flat Earth society has been created with numerous people who totally believe that the earth is flat. They have charts and theories to back up their claims and have been trying to get others to follow them.
I find it interesting that these people are not scientists, or have any scientific background to back themselves up, a rapper has gone viral in his videos claiming that the earth isn't round but flat and goes on to try to prove his theory. If a well known scientist tries to dispute it, the flat earth community cries that it's a cover up.
There is obviously a need to believe in something abnormal and to let your imagination run wild, but it would be nice to have something more substantial and believable.

Good People
You meet a lot of people in your life and a lot of them are schmucks, but you have to meet those schmucks in order to truly appreciate the good people that occasionally cross your path.
My idea of a good person is someone who is generally happy, has a good sense of humor, they are honest and can hold a conversation and respond with intelligent opinions, they help strangers, they are aware of their surroundings and try be the best person they can be. They have strong work ethics and moral fiber, they keep their words and generally do what they say they are going to do.
You know who these people are in your life and you usually choose these people to be your friends and occasionally call them family even though they are not related by blood.
I choose to hang around people that don't pander to my opinion, I like an informed argument or a different way of thinking that will make rethink my topic. I also like being able to feed off another persons sense of humor and add to the ongoing joke, or they can feed off of mine to make a funny scenario hilarious.
Being able to laugh whole heartedly from deep within yourself is the true spice of life, but the only way that can happen is if you are completely comfortable with the people you are with.
Knowing you can confide in these people your deepest darkest secrets, and heartfelt emotions, without them judging you or telling others about it, tells you that they respect you and your privacy, they realize that what you have told them you have done so out of trust, and they wouldn't betray that trust for anything.
These aren't just people that you would call friends, this is the rare breed of good people.

Screwed Over
In California there is a wildfire epidemic happening as we breathe right at this moment, the same sort of problem we Canadians have to deal with and it doesn't help matters when you have no cell service, which is what the California fire department had to deal with when Verizon decided to throttle down their cell usage while they were fighting fires.
4,500 homes were is danger countless lives of people and animals. The California fire department, have this piece of equipment that needs to use cellular data in order to track weather patterns in real time, but after their system had burned through 25 gb of data their "unlimited" package that they bought from Verizon was throttled down because they went over the "cap".
The Fire department emailed and complained, explaining that without internet speed their system was basically useless and that lives were in danger. The email they had sent basically said "lift the throttle now".
Verizon didn't lift throttled service and rather than restoring the fire department to an essential data transfer speed, they indicated that County Fire would have to switch to a new data plan at more than twice the cost and they would only remove throttling after County Fire contact the department that handles billing and switched to the new data plan.
While Their internet was down the fire Department had to rely on other agencies equipment that they were unfamiliar with to help them battle the blaze.
It really makes me sick to think, that in a crisis situation that a company is going to use burning houses and peoples lives as leverage to make a few more bucks. The really terrible thing about this and the real crime is that there is nothing we can do about it but basically complain.
Verizon has said they have made a mistake, and they are looking into the matter. County fire has their bandwidth back but not after all the hoops they had to jump through and this story made headlines.

Cellular Company Criminals
I bought a phone a few years back, it was from Bell and Virgin mobile. I was pretty happy with the service until one day my phone suddenly had no service while I was at home. I had no Idea what had happened and I thought it was a problem with my phone.
I run a business and not being able to receive calls was not helpful at all, it had to be fixed. I thought the problem was with my phone so I took it in to have it checked out, when I got to town it worked great and the technician couldn't find a problem, but as soon as I left the city I had no service.
I went back the next day and explained what had happened, the technician told me to try a new sim card and I did with the same results. Months went by and I still had the issue, I talked to Virgin support which were next to useless, I had to wait between half an hour to an hour before I could talk to anyone, and when I finally did talk to a person they kept shuffling me around to someone new and I had to explain my problem each time.
I researched online trying to find an answer and finally after days, weeks, and months of searching I finally found the cause. Bell, Virgin had a cell tower close to me when I bought the phone which they either sold to another company or tore down because it wasn't used enough. There is a cell phone tower map which you can view and you can select each year to see which ones were in your area. The tower that was giving me service was no longer on the map which is why my phone had terrible service one day and continued to stay that way.
After explaining to Virgin what I had found they claimed it was not their problem and that my phone still worked perfectly fine when close to a working tower. The agreement sheet that I had signed was not breached in any way and if I were to end that agreement I would have to pay a fine for breaking the contract and terms of use. After some serious arguing I folded and paid the fine, cancelling my contract and completely fed up with the whole thing.
I had three company phones and I had to cancel and pay the fine for each one. I thought it was over and I wouldn't have to deal with Virgin anymore, but I was wrong. I still had my phones but when I tried to go with another provider they told me all the phones were locked by Virgin and I had to get the codes to unlock them so they could be used with another provider.
After waiting for hours trying to get unlock codes from Virgin, they told me that the phones were their property (Even though I paid for them) and that if I wanted unlock codes it was going to be 50 dollars for each code. This is completely criminal in my opinion. I paid for one phone and threw the other perfectly good other phones in the garbage and had to buy new ones.
I had always had a good experience with Rogers but I found a better deal and went with Virgin and learned from my terrible mistake, the grass is not greener on the other side of the fence.

Summertime Blues
I used to love the summer, I can remember always looking forward to the warm sun and the blue skies, to escape the cold dark and gloomy winter and relax on my days off staying up until the wee hours of the night and still see daylight.
This has unfortunately passed and while the summer is still better than the winter in my opinion it has nowhere the same appeal that it used to.
I find myself working most of the summer, even on my days off. There is grass to mow on a regular basis, work that needs to be done that can only be done in the summer, outdoor events like birthday parties and weddings that you have to prepare for, you have to decorate and then tear everything down that you had built.
I find myself driving more, which in turn means spending more money, all my insurance and taxes come out in summer, registration for vehicles come out as well.
If you have to work on an extremely hot day it is almost like being in hell, there is no way to cool off once that last article of clothing comes off, and you normally can't remove the clothing because of the ultraviolet rays that will give you an instant sunburn.
The bugs this year have been a thousand times more annoying than usual, we had an incredible amount of flies at the beginning of summer and now the hornets have joined them, just the other day I got stung on the inside of my mouth because one yellow jacket flew into my beer can. I spent an exuberant amount of time killing flies in my house and every time we open the door another ten or so fly in.
Summer has become exhausting, and now I find myself looking forward to the winter, less work all around so I'll be able to relax more, less driving means less spending, and no more freaking bugs will be the icing on the cake that I really look forward to. I will be able to save more money so that I can prepare for the summer again, sigh.

Election Circus
Trump is constantly in the negative spotlight, and his blunders from the past are starting to catch up with him. I personally can't wait to see his reign as the leader of the Unites States come to a crashing end.
What I can't figure out is the theatrics that happen before he or anyone gets elected, it's like watching children fighting on a playground.
If you plan to represent your country in the best possible way I want to hear about how you plan to do that, what skills do you have that will help achieve that goal. I want to hear backup plans, contingency plans, intelligent conversation.
We never hear that though, it always turns into a mud slinging match with each side digging up as much dirt in the other person and then leaking it to the press to make the other person look as bad as possible. The people then have to choose from the better worst candidate at the end.
I think that if all parties involved in trying to get elected, start this type of campaign, and there is no clear person that you would want to represent your country, there should be an option to remove each candidate and replace them with new ones. It would eventually eliminate the mud slinging and perhaps the new candidates would change their tactics.
The change is coming and it's starting an almost worst trend. Now politicians are staring to get elected based on a mass majority of people who want certain things, like weed to made legal, promises of a wall being built across the continent to keep out immigrants. How does any of this help the country? It sounds to me like it's going to be worse not better.
Sure pot is going to create jobs and build revenue, it's also going to kill a lot of people, it will be almost undetectable if you eat it in a brownie or something like it, then it takes about twenty minutes before you feel the effects of it. You could be driving before it hits you that you are stoned. But this is a topic for another day.

My Favorite Message Story
I read a story with a message embedded in it that I loved and I will try to recreate it here for you.
A young boy is happy and gets along with his parents until one day he starts to get angry at everything and everybody. His parents don't know what do and his temper is getting worse. His father comes up with an idea and he implements it the next time his son has a tantrum.
The father tells the boy that the next time he gets angry his punishment will be to pound a nail into a fence. Confused, the boy looks at his father sideways because he doesn't understand. But the next time the boy loses his temper his father makes him get a hammer and pound a nail into their fence.
This action gets repeated over a years time and now there are over 300 nails in the families fence but eventually the boy gets better and stops having tantrums altogether, after the father is sure the boy's anger is gone for good he tells his son that for everyday he is calm he gets to pull out a nail from the fence, the boy doesn't argue and simply does what his father told him to do.
The boy only got angry a few times that year and was calm most of the time, and eventually managed to get all the nails pulled from the fence. When the boy was on the last nail he was excited about it and told his father to come and watch him pull the nail out.
His father came out to watch the boy pull the last nail and when he did the father smiled and patted the boy on the shoulder. The boy look up to his father and said "Father, why did I have to put all those nails in the fence in the first place?"
The father looked to his son and said "I want you to imagine that every nail that you used represented your anger and hurtful words, and the fence was your mother's and my feelings, every nail that went into the fence hurt us in some way, Pulling out the nail represented the apologies you have given to us over the years." The boy nodded his head in understanding as the father went on.
"You see how the fence looks now? It is riddled with holes from where you pulled out the nail and even though you tried to repair the damage done by apologizing or pulling out the nails there are scars left behind that will always be there as reminder. Apologizing does not repair all the damage done, it leaves behind reminders."

The boy nodded his head in understanding as the father went on.
"You see how the fence looks now? It is riddled with holes from where you pulled out the nail and even though you tried to repair the damage done by apologizing or pulling out the nails there are scars left behind that will always be there as reminder. Apologizing does not repair all the damage done, it leaves behind reminders."

Money Needs To Go
We all love money, It is the only thing almost everybody never has enough of and you always want more of it. It's the driving factor in most tasks and actions, nobody would simply volunteer to clean sewers, you need a motivator and money is a great motivator.
Money is the cause for almost all our grief as well, it's why we steal, rape torture, murder, attack, back-stab, blackmail, lie, cheat, turn on our friends and family, eat a spider, have sex with farm animals, prostitution, and a ton of other things I'm not going to list here.
Money cannot buy you happiness, many people think it can but it can't. It can buy you peace of mind which might lead to happiness but not happiness directly. Money is an inanimate object, it can't love you any more than a table leg can.
Have you ever hung out with some truly wealthy people? At first, you have a wow factor and you are envious of their huge house and all their cars and stuff they have, then you wish you had their money. After a few days with the wealthy couple you start to realize something, these people are not very happy, in fact they are quite miserable, anything that they buy has no meaning to them anymore, and they are constantly buying stuff so that they can feel that euphoric feeling that they first felt when they bought something but they no longer feel it.
They constantly go to parties and events and talk with other braggarts who give them ideas on what they should buy and talk about the stuff they own, nothing has a sentimental value to these people and anything can be bought for a price.
Money is not the cause for all evil, people are.
There has to be a way to release us from the grasp of our need for money. We need a new system that isn't based on money, but it should still be something we value but can't steal from another person.

Pink Job Blue Job
Do you give yourself or each other jobs to do based on your gender? A blue job in our house means that it is a job for a man and only a man can do it, a pink job means that it's a job for a woman and only a woman can do it. I constantly tell her that ANY job that needs to be done around the house is a pink job, in a fun, take jabs at you wife whenever you can, kind of way.
My wife likes to keep busy, especially in the summer where she will spend most of the day outside watering, gardening, pulling weeds, and continuously trying to beautify our yard.
I barely help, but I have given myself some blue jobs that have to be done from time to time, I mow the lawn, remove nasty trees, make sure all of our equipment is running properly with regular maintenance, fill tires, basically blue jobs.
If she needs gas for the lawnmower she will tell me it's a blue job and it needs to be done. Not only do I have to go to the store and purchase some I also have to fill the tank because she is too weak to lift the container. ( She isn't, she just like to play like she is.)
My wife does not look at the pink job, blue job the same way as I do. She uses the "It's a blue job" phrase whenever she comes across something she does not want to do. So she will do any job unless its nasty, in which case it becomes a "Blue job".
Our septic tank pump has a hole in the hose, as you have probably guessed it is obviously a blue job to have it fixed. And I am currently working on it, yes it is gross, but it has to be done. This is a job that will never be a pink job in our house, my wife will sometimes get upset that I don't clean toilets, so what, she has never cleaned a septic tank and she never will. She would rather clean toilets on a regular basis for the rest of her life than to enter a septic tank one time.
This is the trade off ladies and gentlemen, you may get mad and think that your significant other doesn't do enough around the house, and you would be right, we don't. We do the truly horrible and nasty ass stuff that you ladies would never do, change a tire in 30 below weather while you sit inside the nice warm vehicle, deal with a hornets nest, pull all the negative attention to your self when it's on her, and yes, jump into a dirty sewer and repair it so she can continue to have bathroom breaks inside.
You ladies do tons of stuff it's true, we men are lazy, but when something needs to be done, there is a reason it's called a Blue Job. If it's a job I don't think is necessary it then becomes a Pink Job. (Because I don't wanna do it.)

Can You Be too Safe?
I was in a meeting for a large company that worked on pipeline maintenance, and in this meeting the head of the safety committee for all of Alberta was discussing how he thought all accidents were 100 percent preventable.
While I applaud the attempt to make a completely safe job site, I don't it's possible and I think you are being naive if you believe it is possible.
Accidents happen, this is a fact of life, they happen because there is not one person on this planet that is perfect, we all make mistakes. I think we could lower the frequency of them happening but there is no way to eliminate them completely.
You need an accident to happen in the first place in order to counter it from happening again, this is how we learn and adapt.
The head of the safety committee asked everyone in the room if they agreed with him and one by one they all shook their head in agreement afraid to challenge the man in power, until he asked me. I told him exactly what I have stated above and I asked this question: How do you plan to prevent an accident that hasn't happened yet?
He looked at me with blank eyes and everyone in the room turned towards him, awaiting his professional opinion, he didn't have one. I think he was upset with my answer because he glared at me for a second then noticed everyone staring at him, he pulled out a notebook and a pen and started writing something down. I imagine it was something to the effect of this worker needs to be fired.
There is no completely safe, even if you lived in a bubble, you could choke on your own saliva and die. Having procedure and paperwork, an outline of your job scope, how the work is going to be completed, using common sense and wearing the proper safety gear is the safest way to work. When it goes beyond that and crosses into overdone safety it actually becomes a hazard.
If you had one fire extinguisher on your truck and your company decided that every truck needed five of them instead, this would be the opposite of safe, you would be in essence driving around with five potential bombs in your vehicle. Compressed tanks, moving vehicle? If you were ever in an accident it could be very hazardous to you and anyone else involved.
There is such a thing as too safe.

Target Advertising (They're watching you)
I was online the other day looking for a swimsuit for my wife, we didn't find one but we looked at quite a few designs and she couldn't decide on a certain type. After we were done she went outside and I continued on to a few science sites I like to frequent. While I'm browsing through articles, a pop up of a woman's swimsuit advertisement pops up on my screen of the same type of suit we were looking at a few minutes ago.
It's an unnerving feeling knowing that there is an artificial intelligence robot monitoring my every keystroke and recording that data to be used against me on a later date. Sure it's pretty harmless right now with pop ups of things I have looked to buy in the past but where is this technology going to be in the future?
This technology is getting worse and being used in different applications right now. There is a facial recognition camera in a few malls in the world that track which stores you shop at, then, while walking down the hallways, a TV billboard will post an advertisement to you and the ad will be related to one of the stores you shop at.
Another concerning ad I have noticed is the ad that seemingly knows of your location. A Dating advertisement will occasionally pop up on my computer screen stating that a girl in my town is interested in me. Knowing what area I live in is really unnerving.
We all deserve, at the least, a bit of personal privacy. It should be our decision if we want that information to be public knowledge, especially if we have to pay a fee for the use of a service.
We all have to pay for internet services and data plans. Doesn't that fact give us the right for a little privacy? If the internet were absolutely free then I can understand that they would monitor your every move in an attempt at target advertising.
I could opt in for a VPN (virtual private network) where it bounces my router address across the globe by frequently changing its number. A.I. Bots can't pinpoint your location, but that's another expense I don't really want to have shell out for. I don't have anything to hide anyway so for now I will have to put up with feeling uneasy about the tracker.

DNA Registry
I was listening to a show on the radio about everyone having their DNA taken and stored in a database. It would be like a modern day version of the police force having your fingerprint but it would be a more definitive way of identifying an individual.
The hosts on the show were arguing about privacy issues, and how the government already has too much of our data as it is, in this day and age of privacy issues and personal information, we need to keep our individuality intact.
I don't really see the harm with a DNA registry, I think it would be an excellent crime fighting tool and a way to save money when trying to identify a body. One of the hosts brought up the point of a rape victim, someone she spoke to was raped and they never caught the person. His DNA was all over her in the form of sweat, hair and other undesirable fluids.
A DNA registry would instantly be able to find this individual if he were in the data bank and he would be caught and off the streets, unable to prey upon another unsuspecting victim.
The other host had concerns about abuse of power and how somebody could use that information against us somehow. I don't see how our DNA could be used against us, if you were to be framed for a crime, that can already be done with a hair sample or blood. If there was a registry it would take lees time for the authorities to find you.
If you were in need of medical attention in the form of a drug specifically tailored for your genetic makeup, a genetic registry would make it a lot easier to get it done.
DNA is the molecular makeup of your body, it has no information about your thoughts or feelings, it can't tell what kind of person you are or if you are a murderer or a savior. It is only a more definitive way to positively identify you, like an advanced fingerprint.
So what are your thoughts? Good or bad?

Dirty Looks
Have you ever been walking somewhere and a complete stranger will look at you a certain way, and you can tell by the way they are looking at you that you are doing something that they disapprove of?
Do you say something or just ignore them and carry on?
I remember walking around a mall and talking loudly with a friend, laughing and having fun. We weren't being disrespectful but perhaps we were a bit loud. We got some extremely dirty looks from some people who were walking by us. I ignored them but part of me wanted to ask what their problem was.
All of us have to live with each other on this planet and it would be easier if we all got along but I don't think that will ever happen. Maybe we don't have to get along but instead respect the fact that everybody is different and accept that not all of us are going to fit into what you would consider an ideal personality.
Another type of dirty look is one that is from someone you have known for a long time, it could be your parent, sibling, or loved one. My wife is an expert on sending me on a guilt trip with just one look. I might be feeling particularly lazy one day while she is out working in the yard and I'm doing nothing. I know her so well that a millisecond glance in my direction will tell me that she is not impressed. Women in general seem to have this dirty look thing down to a fine science.
Other times I will get a dirty look and I will have absolutely no idea why. If I ask she tells me it's nothing, which I know is a lie, then I sit and do some self reflection on what I might have done wrong. If it's nothing then how about we dispense with the dirty looks, or if it is something, she could tell me, and we still could be rid of the dirty look. Sometimes when she gives me a dirty look I give her one back as a counter attack, but that almost always fails miserably, as I have no basis for mine other than she gets one because I got one.
My mother had lots of dirty looks and I knew what each one meant. One was for using bad language, another for arguing, one was for disappointment, sadness, anger, confusion, disapproval, sympathy, and complete horror. Mothers are the queens of the dirty looks and should be awarded for having the same look mean so many things. I think the reason they are so good at them is that they practice for years on their husbands before they have children.

Never Happen To Me
Why is it that we have the mentality that the bad stuff won't happen to us until it actually happens. We drink and drive, thinking that we won't get into an accident or be stopped by the police. We go outside barely wearing any clothes when it's cold out and think we will never get sick, we eat whatever we want and think we will never be out of shape or get fat.
It goes beyond this one type of mentality as well, we also get on planes, buses, cars, trucks, motorcycles and all other types of vehicles. We never think the plane will crash or that we will get into an accident. Somewhere in our mind it seems that we are oblivious to any consequences that may occur.
I don't believe that we are all oblivious to the consequences of our actions, I believe that is simply a case of not caring and that we will deal with the problem when it happens or if it happens.
Common everyday things we do take certain precautions, like putting on a seat belt, it's not just the law but it has been proven that it can and will save your life. We also don't stare directly into the sun, and wear sunglasses to protect us from the glare. My wife is a huge fan of sunscreen, so she doesn't burn or get skin cancer, but like most people I don't bother with it because I will deal with it if it happens, and I don't believe it will happen to me.
I think we have this mentality because if we didn't, nothing would ever get done, and we would never leave our house for fear of something that might kill us.
I had a girlfriend who was deathly scared of getting sick, the precautions she would take to prevent that from happening went above and beyond anything anyone else would do, but eventually she did get sick, and all that preparation and worry was for nothing.
We can't survive in this world if we were to worry about every single thing that might happen to us. There are people who do worry about everything, and they are in the looney bin, those types of thoughts would drive anybody crazy after a while and you wouldn't be able to function in society.
I guess it is better to deal with an issue, if and when it happens to you. An exception to this rule would be if you were to cut off an appendage or something. I can foresee that sticking my hand into a running saw would be a scenario I would like to avoid at all costs and not deal with it when it happens.

Lead By Example
If you want someone to do something for you whether it be a worker or your children, try doing it with them once in a while. I know that being a boss has other responsibilities and menial tasks are beneath you but sometimes you will garner the respect of others by showing them that you know how to do the job you are asking them to do and you do it very efficiently.
By watching you do something that you are proficient at others can learn from your expertise. I have worked at many jobs where the owner of the company will give me a task that they themselves have no idea how to do. They will criticize the job after it's been completed and say something like it's not up to their standards. If you ask them to show you how they would like it done they go into some nonsense of time restraints and go back to drinking coffee and chatting up the secretary. Later you may learn that they have never done what they have asked you to do.
Another scenario is a parent giving out chores to their children but never help them do them, they will claim that it's their kids job and theirs. My mother would occasionally help me with a chore she had asked me to do. Not only did it help me do the job better but it was a good bonding moment where we were doing something productive together.
When I started my tree business I did everything myself, I had no workers because I couldn't afford any. After about a year of hard work I started to get some help and it was great, but it went to my head and I expected them to do a job I didn't think I should do anymore and I would go and sit in the truck while they worked. They resented me and it put a wall between the worker and myself, the job they were doing was starting to get sloppy and I would get angry at them for being lazy. This didn't fix the problem.
I did fix the problem when I asked myself "How can I ask them to do something I wouldn't do myself?" The next job we did together I didn't complain or yell, I just started helping them finish up what they were doing and helped with the menial tasks and instantly the jobs started to get better. My workers worked harder and respected my work ethic and they themselves tried to match my pace and finish before I could help them so I would respect them in turn.
All the yelling complaining and threats in the world won't make someone do something better, if they respect you and what you do, it may inspire them to be better. Lead by example.

sat very still and watched for any sort of movement. Her belly rumbled again
with some pain and she told herself "Stop that! I'm going to give away my
position and get myself killed". Her stomach just replied with another
spasm followed by the noise again. Then silently behind her, a huge serpent
rose out of the ground like an enormous shadow, its beady eyes focused on her
as it rose, It's enormous flattened head touching the tree tops. Fae didn't see
the creature or hear it and she felt like she was going to pass out from the
pain in her gut. She clenched the muscles in her stomach against the pain and
suddenly heard a loud BLLAAPPT sound from behind her! Incredibly the pain was
gone!
The serpents beady
eyes opened wide as the gas cloud from Fae's stomach enveloped it's head
passing up past the leaves, turning them brown as it passed by. The serpents eyes
rolled back in its head and it groaned in agony as it fell backwards toward
the ground. Fae spun on her heels from the groan of the serpent and saw the
mammoth beast slump to the ground in a heap. The fragrant aroma hit her at that
moment and Fae fell from her tree and landed upon the ground gagging. "The
stench was unbearable!" she thought... and it had come from her! She
grabbed wads of dirt and grass and stuffed them up her nose but there was
nothing she could do for her stinging eyes. She crawled along the ground away
from where she had been then turned around and waited. Branches fell from the
trees from where the gas cloud had passed by along with leaves and a few suddenly
dead birds and squirrels, the serpent lay immobile having taking the full brunt
of the blast."
Serves you right you
nasty monster, that will teach you not to sneak up on me." Her thoughts
changed as she giggled to herself and she even felt a little sorry for the poor
serpent. "Nothing should have to die in such a humiliating way." She
mused. Another thought came to her then, "There is no possible way of
controlling that, especially with the pain that came before it. What would
happen if she did that around the humans? Would they all die? What if they did
it around her? Would she die?" She picked herself up off the ground and
headed over to the serpent, it's immobile body let her know that it was safe
for approach.

Fae 011
Fae continued to say her name, reading it was one thing but
speaking it out loud was another one altogether, using this oddly shaped mouth
with the skin around it that moved in all matter of directions was going to
take quite some time to get used to. She was about to head off deeper into the
forest when she stepped on one of the yellow balls that had fallen from the
tree, it squished between her toes and had a tangy smell." FOOD!" she
thought with excitement as she bent and picked one up which blew apart in her
hand as soon as she grasped it, it sprayed yellow juice everywhere. Her eyes
stung, the juice had got into her eyes and she danced around awkwardly cursing
to herself until the pain subsided and she could see again. Fae carefully
picked up the remaining yellow balls and took a big bite out of one of
them...it was good but then her eyes squeezed shut at the aftertaste and her
mouth puckered, she continued on despite the taste, forcing herself to finish
the insanely sour fruit one by one.
With a full belly Fae walked further into the forest and
found herself awestruck by the beauty of it, all sorts of different shades of
green sprouted everywhere with sunlight from the sky shining through the leaves
in strong beams of light. The wind rustled through the forest and it seemed to
have a life all of its own. She almost felt bad for all the forests she had
burnt down in her life, if she had known what they looked like inside she might
have tried to save them instead. She kept walking, paying attention to where
she was going so as not to run into anything and as she walked she thought to
herself" Where am I going exactly?" She pondered" Its not like I
can speak human yet, what happens if I run into one of them? All I really know
is that a human is behind this cruel joke and I am not amused. I don't even
know where I'm going and even if I did I have no way of knowing how to get
there. This walking is much different from flying, there are no landmarks that
I am used to seeing, and everything looks the same. I guess that if I keep
moving the answers will eventually reveal themselves to me.
She kept walking and
as she did she urinated without breaking stride, it came out in a steady stream
and splashed against her legs and hissed when it hit the ground, the grass
decaying where ever the liquid landed. She stopped and looked back, "Well
that was annoying" she thought. she had never urinated on herself before
and now she was a little disgusted with herself. Fae smiled, and then guffawed
soon afterward. It was the only thing she could do, she knew she was trapped in
this body and it was going to be awhile to get used to it. She carried on
while shaking her head at the ridiculousness of her situation.
The speed at which
she was walking soon slowed and Fae found herself confused at the burning
sensation in her stomach. She checked herself over and found no bruising or
cuts but there was an intense pain she was not used to and had never felt
before. A low rumbling sound came from somewhere and she froze in her tracks.
Something brushed by her foot and she jumped with a little yelp. There was
something under the soft ground! She could see it moving, and again she heard
the low rumble it sounded like it came from right below her just after her
stomach spasm clenched again, the pain was getting worse now.

The Right Of Way
Every so often you run into someone who claims to be the best driver in the world. What does that mean exactly? Does that mean you can drive and not get into an accident? Does it mean you never make a mistake? All it means is that this person has a huge ego and likes to boast ridiculous claims. There is no "best driver" out there. We all make mistakes and screw up.
Want an example of how some of us think while sitting behind the wheel? Many drivers seem to be very concerned that they have "The right of way" This of course means that if they were to get into an accident, they would not be at fault because they were right in their actions while the other driver was wrong in their actions and therefore at fault for the whole fiasco.
The wrong driver would have to pay for any damages with their insurance and you may wind up getting a whole new vehicle from the accident. Sounds like a sweet deal to me. There are so many people out there that share this mentality.
Let's say that you are at a green light and moving forward, you see a vehicle speeding from the right side and approaching the red light and they are clearly not going to stop. You have "The right of way" are you going to keep moving forward and let that driver hit you? It's amazing how many people will say yes to this question.
To me the hassle of being stopped for hours while waiting for the cops to arrive and filling out forms and paperwork is not worth it, not to mention that I won't have a vehicle for a while and have to rent one, even it's free I don't want to go through the whole process. I will wait and let the idiot texting on his phone speed through the red light and avoid the accident altogether.
We are just talking about vehicle damage here. What about harm to life and limb? You could be crippled for life and stuck in a wheelchair or worse, dead or a complete vegetable stuck in a hospital room, all because you had the "Right of way".
Insurance companies will give you a payout for life if you become crippled from an accident. I would rather earn my money myself with all my fingers and toes, than be stuck in a wheelchair and have a monthly payout.
If you see a dangerous situation unfolding or a possible accident about to happen to you, stop, don't let it happen, so what if the other driver was in the wrong. Every single driver out there makes mistakes while driving including yourself. So let others make their mistakes and avoid the negative outcome.
The only "Right of way" is the one where it keeps you safe.

The Way You Are
It seems that we are in an era of people wanting others to accept them for what they are. We have the transgendered community, with whom we are starting to cater to, with bathrooms and change rooms for them. I have a deep concern on where the line should be drawn.
How far are we going to let this go? If someone says they are gay and they cannot help it because it's in their genetic makeup we should all accept it, and for the most part we all do.
If you look on the opposite side of this spectrum what happens when someone starts to say that they cannot help that they like to murder other people because it's in their nature and they can't help it? What happens when pedophiles claim that their genetic makeup forces them to be attracted to little children? I will never accept this, and I imagine nobody else will either.
Why are we expected to accept one type and not the other, why do we expect one side to change their ways and control who they are but the other side is accepted into society? Isn't it the same thing, to some degree?
I have no problem with transgendered people or gay or lesbian, I even have a few friends who have come out as one. The difference is that they are not hurting anyone, and anyone they meet is consensual when they enter a relationship. What they are doing isn't for monetary gains or profit.
I have read a few articles now with "Bad" people claiming they can't help themselves because it's the way they are.
We are going to have a huge problem in very near future, there will be no more prisons but instead be hospitals, and everyone who has done a crime will be sent one because they aren't guilty of a crime but instead can't help themselves, it's who they are.
There has to be a way to diagnose these symptoms to prove they are not the same thing. One is a genetic condition while the other is an addiction. Which I believe to be true, and anyone can beat an addiction.

Do Yourself A Favor
When I was younger I worked at my Father's rental shop, and I didn't much care for the work. I was in my early twenties and I was still a lazy kid at heart. I didn't see the value in the shop or the work being done.
After a few years of being there my dad offered me the business and I turned it down, I didn't want annoying customers, paperwork and endless repairs for the rest of my life. It's a decision I still regret to this day.
I see the value in it now, if it were my business I could have turned it into what I wanted and it would have given me purpose for the rest of my life if I chose.
My Dad had some friends who always were there to help him out, and to enjoy each other's company. There was a much older man who was very good friends with him, and his name was Peter but we all called him Old Pete.
Old Pete must have been in his late 70's but he was still very active, he had a wood working shop in his garage and he often built things for other people for free. He volunteered himself out to the community and helped out where ever he could.
If you visit a retirement center to see your loved ones that need full time care you know that sometimes it's hard to talk to them, their minds and bodies are slow. Old Pete always had a quick wit and could keep a conversation going right up until the day he died.
I think the reason for this is that he kept his mind and his body doing something that helped him focus and get a little exercise on the side. He didn't sit all day long and watch T.V. He never gave up and stopped moving, even if he wasn't doing much Old Pete was always doing something. It kept his mind sharp and his body limber and he didn't turn into a mushroom.
This is one of the many secrets of life, keeping active and having a purpose after you have retired and have aged into senior citizenship.
Do yourself a favor and see the bigger picture, look outside the box that you are stuck in. Life lessons are all around us. Sometimes we have to learn from our mistakes but sometimes we don't.

Two Birds, One Stone
When farmers found out they could spread manure to use as a fertilizer they killed two birds with one stone, so to speak. Eliminating the problem of human and animal waste buildup as well as getting an incredible crop was very fortunate indeed. A process that is still used to this day.
I think the world is filled with scenarios like this, but it's up to us to find out what they are.
I think it should be possible to cure leukemia with H.I.V. (Aids) and vice versa. With leukemia there is a problem of an over abundance of white blood cells that take over the body, and with H.I.V. there is an issue of not enough white blood cells.
This seems like it's too good to be true, but if you look at each way both viruses kill you it does make perfect sense that these two diseases would cancel each other out. Therefore, eliminating the problem.
I'm not sure if the type of combination matters or not, does one have to be a virus and another a disease? There has to be more examples out there of the symptoms of different diseases and viruses that would cancel each other out if they were introduced to each other. I don't have enough knowledge of either topic to know.
So, I just took my own advice just now and googled my above topic, and sure enough H.I.V. and leukemia do not like each other at all. Here is a link: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0929664613000612
If there is one of example of a virus cancelling out a disease there must be others out there. Maybe you know of a few?

A Fix For A Broken World
If you look at the most successful companies in the world there is one thing that they all have in common. Unity. These companies have employees and bosses that work together as a team to make a better product or to do a better job.
How are we as a species supposed to move forward and evolve when we are always in disagreement and fight each other at every new decision?
The problem with what we are doing right now is that the whole world is divided. There is a ton of other problems to be sure, money, politics, and power comes in to play but the main issue is that we are all divided.
If there were no borders, or other countries, and we simply called ourselves the Earth, and worked together as a whole to fix all worldly problems as a team instead of us against them, I truly believe this planet would be a better place.
There would still be different cities and places to visit, and different cultures and ways of life. The third world countries would be taken care of by the entire populace instead of a select few that try to do the right thing.
Technology would be shared, wealth, knowledge, and everything that makes this world a little better would be shared with everyone.
There would be no reason to build nuclear bombs and have wars because we would all call the same place home, there would be no reason to fight for more land because it would already belong to everybody.
It wouldn't be world peace, but it would eliminate a lot of the bickering, and us against them mentality. We would still have people that the world feels the need to help, the homeless, the sick, and the elderly, but with more people working on the same problem it would be rectified sooner.
I came to this conclusion when I thought that if there was an asteroid that was on a collision course with the earth, that would make us all extinct if it hit us. At that point of worldly realization money power and greed wouldn't matter borders wouldn't matter, there would be no us against them mentality. Every person on this planet would work together to save it, regardless of cost or nationality.
The reason all the fighting would stop is because it's not that important. It would be forgotten as soon as there was a bigger threat on the horizon that affects everybody. Survival would be paramount to the entire world.

Fae 10
When her head cleared she inspected herself thoroughly and
thankfully found no blood, but by the heavens did it ever hurt, she hadn't felt
pain like that since that time her tail got caught in a castle gate and she had
to tear it off, it took hundreds of years to fully grow back when she was just
a fledgling. Perhaps my subconscious mind remembered that time and that's why I
took to walking as a human so quickly, she figured.
She got up and
brushed the grass and dirt from herself as well as continued to rub her mound
where she had stabbed it, she picked up the shard and held it without tossing
it and continued to the forest being careful of where she stepped. " It
seems my body has an unusual flaw up here on my chest, one that I am going to
have to keep in mind and find a way to protect better in the future." As
she continued walking and thinking, she did not even notice the forest coming
up before her and before she knew it, she walked directly into a tree, she fell
on her butt and looked up at the foliage, instantly perturbed with the tree,
she gave it a slight kick with her foot while thinking to herself "Stupid
tree!" The tree shook and leaves fell from the branches along with some
round yellow balls that fell around her body, she instinctively covered her
head with arms and waited for everything to stop moving and half expected the
tree to fall on her head but thankfully that never happened.
She opened her eyes and looked around noticing the yellow
balls that had fallen from the tree and the perfect imprint of her foot that
she had left in the tree along with some backwards letters in the imprint that
she recognized, E A F. She looked at the tree for a moment then grabbed her
foot lifting and twisting it toward her face, sure enough there on her foot was
the word FAE. She said the word to herself and then again this time aloud in a
squeaky quiet voice...fae.. and again but a little louder but it sounded like
Faaaaeeeee, again she tried annoyed with her meek little voice Faaeee, she
didn't know why but something about that word resonated within her, it
felt.....good, to say it and so she did, over and over. Faaaeee, Faaee,
fae,fae,Fae,Fae.

Fae 009
CHAPTER 2
Fae
Dragons can sleep in any position, on their back, curled in
a ball, half on half off a ledge, anything really. This is obviously not the
case for humans, because when she awoke in her sitting position with her head
hanging between her legs she found it hurt quite a lot to move, "By the
darkness" she groaned in her head, as she tried to move. "What
madness is this?" Her short little neck had stiffened to a point of almost
non-moving and her back was in much of the same condition as she started to
rise." more joys of being a human" she thought with disgust. She
moved stiffly and sorely to the small pool stretching along the way trying to
get her kinks out, and when she finally got there it was quite the effort to
crouch down to drink the water but she did it grudgingly. She took a few sips
and spat out the water she hadn't swallowed yet, the water tasted like blood
and mud and she couldn't see very well because she had some sort of foreign
substance over her eyes. She rubbed at them and felt something crumble and fall
away allowing her to see through a haze at first and then a bit clearer.
"I'm not sure I can do this today." she thought,
"I'm already sick of this body and I haven't even made it out of the cave
yet." she looked down at the pool and had to move her fiery red hair from her
face again so she could see, the pool was completely ruined, her wash the night
before had contaminated the pool to the point of no return. She stood up and
turned toward the cave entrance." I guess the only option is forward
now" she guessed. The cave entrance was still blocked by the huge rocks
and she had to climb over them again to get out as well as readjust her eyes to
the sunlight. She looked at the forest down in the valley and sighed to herself
while taking one last look around to see if perhaps there was something that
may be of use, she was about to leave when she noticed the small sharp rock
fragment that was caught on her fleshy mound on the cliff that she had broken off,
so she walked over and picked it up thinking she may be able to use it as she
did her talons when she was still a dragon.
As she walked down
the hillside she flipped the rock shard in the air over and over, still getting
used to her new motor skills, she suddenly stumbled a bit on some uneven ground
while the rock shard was still in the air and it came down point first on her
leg just above the knee, it bounced off and hit the ground. Curious, she looked
at it, then at her leg, then at the rock shard. She knew that being a dragon
she had never cut herself, or been cut unless of course she was attacked with
enchanted weaponry, but that was mainly because as a dragon her body was
covered in scales, right down to the tips of her claws.
This body she was in
had no scales, it just had this pale hide. She remembered eating her share of
humans, they weren't the tastiest thing to eat but they went down easy enough,
not too chewy, and they broke apart nicely, quite salty, with a bit of crunch,
So she thought it very odd that the rock shard hadn't cut her or for that
matter why she hadn't died of the fall or had been crushed by the boulder?
She wondered if maybe she was a certain type of species of human or maybe she
was special somehow.
She took the rock in both hands careful not to crush it
between them." Were they strong like me too?" she wondered as she
placed the tip of the rock on her thigh. She closed both of her eyes and turned
her head to the side as she gave a slight push on the shard.....nothing happened,
she opened one of her eyes and looked down. She could barely feel it there,
indenting her thigh, she pushed harder and heard the shard crack a bit so she
let the pressure off and moved the shard to one of her fleshy mounds on her
chest, and came at it with approximately the same pressure she had on her
thigh. She screamed in agony when it hit, and fell to the ground rolling on to
her belly and while holding her fleshy mound with both hands she rocked back
and forth with her teeth clenched, rubbing herself until the pain subsided.

Laziness
Sometimes I get into a pattern or a routine where I don't want to do anything, I will put off tasks that need to be done until the last moment. This never helps me, and I find myself rushing a bunch of little jobs and playing a game of catch up with myself.
Why is it so easy to do nothing? Why is it so easy to get fat and eat the most unhealthy food that there is on the planet? Humans aren't the only species to have a weakness for laziness, animals will too, even wild animals.
If you feed a bear your junk food, it almost becomes like crack cocaine to the poor thing, and it will hunt down and ransack campers and residential areas to find it.
Why would we all be wired in this way? If you stay in this mode of laziness it becomes impossible to get out of it. Maybe we are supposed to indulge ourselves and give in to our desires.
If cavemen did that none of us would be here right now. Cavemen had to go out and scrounge for food to survive, there was no free handouts for them. If they failed in their quest they died, there was no option to stay home because you had a sniffle.
I think that some people put more value on themselves than they are actually worth. You are not worth anything unless you go out and give value to yourself. Ever hear that saying "How can anyone love you if you don't love yourself?"
If you think you are worth more than other people say, show them, don't tell them. Better yet show yourself that you can do more than hide out by yourself in your little domicile feeling sorry for yourself and that the rest of the world doesn't understand you. The alternative is like you being a caveman who is lazy. We both know what happens to him.

Why Vote About Anything?
Elections are coming up, and you get a letter in the mail or an email telling you where to go along with the division you are in as well as the dates of the voting. Most of us don't even know who to vote for or why we even vote in the first place.
If you don't live in town it's a long drive to find a voting station and when you get there you end up confused as where to go and you usually have to wait for other people to finish their votes. It's usually a long and arduous process and not fun at all.
There should be a way in this day and age to have people vote online with their phones. It should be a simple process that anyone can access and can only vote one time. Not only could you vote but there should be infomercials on each person or topic you are voting for so that you are well informed before you make your decision.
I don't know about you but to me it doesn't seem to matter what or who you vote for anyway, the result almost always ends up in disappointment. We are never happy with the new official that gets into power.
The promises that are made get broken, the new elected official does things that makes everyone in the country upset but they don't seem to care. I'm sure that other people get pretty upset when someone comes in and starts to ruin this country and when their term is over they get millions of dollars in pension for all their hard work and service to the country.
We should get a vote on that. If a law or tax that get made that does nothing but line the pockets of greedy politicians we should be able to vote that crap out.
The bottom line is that fewer and fewer people are voting, not only because it's difficult to vote in the first place but also because when we do vote the results are usually disappointing.

Children Reflect The Parents
I was working the other day outside and from across the street there were three children watching me and my worker. The parents had set their trampoline right up against the fence (with netting) so that they could see over.
The children were pretty young I would say four to six years old. They watched for a while, and eventually they started calling out to us. They were using every vulgar expletive they knew and to be honest I didn't know how to respond.
The parents were no where to be seen, I was on a job so being professional was upmost paramount to me. Calling us f***ing Vaginas, C***suckers, and other words children of this age should not even know. It was non stop and it went on for hours until we eventually finished and left the job site.
The people who live in that neighborhood had to have heard what was going on, but nobody came out, no one said anything. Hours it went on and nobody did anything.
If these were my children, the punishment would be severe, I would let my grandmother at them so she could wash their filthy mouths out with soap. They would be grounded for a month and they would have to write out a written apology as to why it is wrong to talk to people in that way as well as a verbal apology and "Sorry" isn't good enough.
So these parents of the children, what the hell were they doing while this was going on? Does this not reflect back onto them? What kind of parent leaves there young children alone outside in the hot weather, to play on a trampoline and swim in a pool unsupervised for hours on end?
These kids have absolutely no discipline and I can only think that the parents must be modern day neanderthals.
When you see good kids who are polite and have manners, I often think to myself, wow, your parents have done a good job with you.
In retrospect, I should have went over there, knocked on the door and spoke to the parents personally, if no one answered the door I would have called the police. Tiny children left alone unsupervised at home has to be the same if not worse than leaving them in a vehicle.
What do you think I should have done? (without going to jail)
