Objectified Persons

I'm really sick of the whole "women are objectified" in the media. From video games to magazines to news articles. Why is it that the focus is solely on women and how men objectify them?

You may see a cover of a book or advertisement for swimsuits or some box art on a video game and the picture is of a woman with huge breasts tiny waist and an hourglass figure.  The female community seems to be out raged with these sorts of advertisements, saying that the picture is completely unrealistic.

I don't disagree,  the pictures are unrealistic, but isn't that the point?  You want to see something that is appealing to the human eye, something that is beyond expectation. Food is portrayed in the same way. When you see an ad for a burger or chicken or any food related theme the food looks beyond delicious, unfortunately when you get it, what you get is not what was advertised.

Sure women are objectified, but so are the men, perfect jawlines, six pack abs broad shoulders and build like a perfect specimen. Men are advertised the same way women are.  They are portrayed the same way as women in movies and tv shows. They perform miraculous feats that would be impossible in human life yet no one complains about this fact.

Nobody is going to want to buy clothes or eat at the same restaurant, see a movie, buy a book, or play a video game if the picture on the front is of a fat, overweight, pimple infested, greasy, unkempt slob advertised for the product, it doesn't matter if it were a man or a woman.

I think that the people who complain about these sorts of things don't have any self confidence,  and compare themselves to others constantly.  Get a grip on yourself and don't worry about what other people look like or do, worry about you and you alone.
