Light speed

I have been reading science articles for a while now,  and everyone seems to agree that the speed of light is the top speed of the universe. I did some research of my own and came to the conclusion that it actually is not the top speed, the area around the black hole called the event horizon pulls light into it and the jet that shoot out of it also is faster than light. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
